Drench My Soul

I thought for a moment but my thoughts left me,
How do I describe you, dear rain and your beautiful mysteries,
You drench my soul and still I’m dry,
May be the thirst would never die,
You pour in your blessing and still we seek,
a little more of your beautiful bounties..
You drop in a river and make it shine,
The sun takes a break and gets a bit mild,
The flowers fill their cups of morning tea, sipping each drop so delightfully,
A bird sings on my window sill,
The trees dance by joining in ,
and what do I say about the little leaves, They gather your drops and play with glee,
and I seeking company join the gang, and sing to the lovely nature’s song.
Oh rain do visit us every year,
we wait for you in an anticipated fear,
and when you drop by generously.......My heart tunes in to your mysteries! :)

Why wait in anticipated fear for the rain- something that we look to with glee?
Besides I like your verse. They pick the beauty out there.

Nice poem Sana. I loved it. I am reminded of this beautiful quotation: “Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain”. I like walking in the rain.

Beautiful verse

Even a blade of grass wouldn't raise up from the earth if it were not for the rain. Only rain can heal the wounds it had inflicted by not visiting the land when it should.

beautiful poem...described the setting really well...just one thought though....the first few lines felt as though you were trying hard to make them rhyme, instead of fully expressing yourself. that somewhat reduces the impact...nevertheless, a great work!

I also like walking in the rain, only if it is not a thunder storm with lighting. Very nice poem and I also like the smell rain brings. Have a nice evening.

You know, you have beautifully expressed my thoughts one rainy afternoon recently. Exactly how I felt. Beautiful expression, Sana, with contradictions for spice.. but that is what nature is and too is life. :-)

Hello Sana:)

I never realized that someone can write such meaningful and interesting poetry about rain. Yes, I agree with you completely what you have so beautifully portrayed. This was what I felt when I was working in Madhya Pradesh.

Now Kerala is going through a spell of rainy season.

As a result of heavy rain Kerala remains a vast garden all through the year. You will find greenery all the year round. There is a joke about this. One central minister came to asses the drought situation in Kerala many years back.He surveyed Kerala from a helicopter. He found Kerala green every where. So he reported there is no drought in Kerala. As a result Kerala was denied central aid on account of drought.

Yes, we need rain for food crops to grow, agriculture to flourish, plants to grow, flowers to bloom, hydro electric power to be generated, for drinking water and for little children to have fun and so on.Hence your poem paying wonderful tributes makes complete sense.

I enjoyed reading your lovely poem which opened the flood gates of my thoughts.

Best wishes Sana:)
Joseph
