While I Thought I Can....

There is so much going on around me,
it makes me feel I am still...

Rain drops are falling with Gods bounty,
it makes me feel I am still...

A long distance away there is someone saving lives,
it makes me feel I am still....

A bubbly laugh, a tear rolling by,
it makes me feel I am still....

There is life in the river's flow,
it make me feel I am still...

The eternity of the sky, and waves at the shore,
it makes me feel I am still...

Oh how still I am, if I dont try
to make my life worth each while..

And while I thought of starting anew,
the stillness subsided like a tainted hue,

And finally it seeped into my brain,
life's about doing..its a tough terrain.
Though thinking could make me sharpen my gears,
but its the doing ..
that would take me somewhere.

Got to always keep moving in life... This life is too short; and it attains a meaning only if it means something to someone... And if we are still, it never means anything to anyone - its just a statue that you pass bye in one's journey!!!

Anyways, well written!!!

This is such a thoughtful poem, I enjoyed reading it very much. You are right, we should stand up and make a statement, help others and be loving to everyone we can.

Wow! Staying still, staying silent.
Seeing a lonely stray dog at night on the street; stay still; to think if it was me..

Hi Sana:)

Very interesting poem and very thought provoking.

I would like to say that although you are standing still and watching things happening around you, you are not really still but you are observing, analyzing, absorbing, understanding, appreciating. This means your mind is working. All great achievements are made possible only by an active mind. You might be still but ideas germinate in the mind and then you start acting on it. Of course, success or failure depends on how actively you pursue your ideas with determination, persistence and perseverance.

The end of your poem is really fantastic. What is the point in standing still and watching so many things happening around us if we cannot act. Only action will bring results. Many people shy away from acting. They prefer to be indolent. They waste their God given talents. They don’t use their brawn and brain. They become rusty. Bishop of Cumberland said---IT IS BETTER TO WEAR OUT THAN TO RUST OUT.

USE IT OR LOSE IT. This applies to brain as well as the muscles in the body.

But if my action is going to create ill will, bring animosity, create hatred, create problems, create misunderstanding should I act or not act? This is where we have to use our judgment while acting.

I enjoyed this post which propounds a great truth with amazing lucidity.

Have a wonderful day Sana,
Joseph

I couldn't agree with you more, whatever great we think has little value until that is converted into action.

Our thoughts might show us the right path, but walking on the right path actually shows who we really are.
