Behind a tough exterior..

As I drove through the fog, objects became visible on coming closer, it was like walking through a row of white curtains, after passing every curtain something new is revealed. Life is just like a drive through thick fog, very dense indeed, it brings you face to face with facts that you were never familiar with. Though we are human beings it becomes very difficult for us to understand another human, but as time passes we get to know people well.
We meet many people in our day to day life, of which some are friendly and some seem really rude, but one thing that's common between every human being, is that somewhere everyone has a soft corner, but since we function on the logic of face value , we are never able to explore the softness behind certain tough exteriors..is it that they look tough or is it we who are blinded by wrong perception. I remember watching ", home alone"in which the protagonist was scared of a man who looked like a wicked fellow, his cousins used to narrate all sorts of stories about the man, but by the end of the movie we get to know that the man was a very kind soul, someone whom the boy instantly took a liking to, after he got to know how kind the old man was.
Whatever the reason may be , but the best part is not to pass judgement , you never know when life proves you wrong .
All of us are puppets in the hands of situations that make us react the way we do. Humanity is a beautiful puzzle and we never know when a part gets connected and clicks the right chord inturn simplifying the puzzle of our life :)

the right advice should be not to prejudice anyone
take your time and completely dont trust the first impression is the last one
not consider the face alone as it happens in Big Boss they judge Sherlyn Chopra as a very bold item girl but she is not that
and passing judgements is wrong but healthy discussions i suppose is the necessity

You have written a very nice post again. Also you are right about the toughest person has a soft spot that can be reached. I have seen programs about the most harden person has broke down and cried. Please keep up your beautiful posts. Hope the new year is being kind to you.

I liked this post very much. I remember the scene in Home Alone. For a long time it was my favourite movie.
I don't know why we do it... make a judgement on that first impression. I even read a book about it. But it still doesn't make sense. We all do. But maybe we should be more aware that we might be too quick to pass a judgement. Right or wrong.

Im glad you liked it Ajai, yes we humans have a habit of passing judgement, some of us might not agree with it, but we still do in a subtle way..that's also because we cease to see our mistakes and happily point at others..maybe thats the root cause of the whole probelm..what say!

Hi Sana, what to say, some people will turn out to be really rude in some situations..
We forget all the good times with them before, or later when they behave quite normal, we(perhaps I) feel it all weird, remembering the rude ways they were once, keeping that impression in mind somewhere..
The best thing is to just not expect anything from any one..!!
For those who are kind enough to forgive and love them the way they are, great..

Cheers for you Sana,
Stay there with your good posts :-)

Besides being judgemental, one more things we could do without is to be prejudiced (though the two expressions are sometimes used interchangeably). What I'm referring to is a situation where we hear something about a person from a third person and (maybe by a process of 'Chinese whispers') and arrive at an image of that person based on what we heard (or came to know).

Baaz dafa (many a times) such 'images' (mostly of the negative kind) can come out to be absolutely false when we know better. Wouldn't it be so much better, then, to approach a person without any preconceptions, either positive or negative, and let our interactions and our judgement (based on facts, no heresay) decide the course.

Something like the difference between 'hear' and 'listen' perhaps, or what someone used to refer to as 'listen to' rather than 'listen around' (with the 'bug in the head' preventing us from focusing on the present. This may be idealistic, but has the potential to make our lives much less complicated than it is.

Wish you a Happy New Year.

Hello Sana:)

This a wonderful study of human beings and life. It is full of insights to understand life and the mystery surrounding it. Each day unfolds a little for us to know just like the fog which allows us to see only a few feet in front of us.

Lovely analogy and presented extrememly well.

Have a nice day Sana:)

Hmmm.. Need to be in the present moment as "Deb" said, with our "self" to be like that..

Otherwise we always inject negativity inside us and others always.

Hi Sana...indeed this often happens. We sometimes misjudge people. It is said, 'first impression is the last impression'. But this is not wholly true under all circumstances with all the persons. So we must the person a second chance.
I really liked your post.
