And then I lit

It was dark,
I kept wondering why,
tightly shut with biting rust of time.
It was cold,
as cold as it could be,
a scary chill ran through me.
The ceiling was damp,
and time came to a still,
there at a distance was a locked window sill.
When I opened my eyes,
the dream passed away,
was it a dream or my inner state?
I filled my eyes with the ray that lit my room,
and allowed it to seep, deep within.
when I closed my eyes the very next day,
the doors were ajar,
and destiny lit my way.

Really beautiful!! Makes one feel if darkness exists in reality or just in the minds of people!

Hey Thanks Swetha, the darkness within oneself is more problematic, if we are lit up from within, life would seem much more easier and at peace.
Very True Ayesha:) Thanks for visitn!

It is really a wonder that each one of us is helped by this ray at junctures of life when you are almost giving up.

Hi Sana:)

Most of us face darkness and scary chill not only in our dreams but also in real life. We are afraid, we are frustrated, we feel helpless, we grope in the dark and we feel we are falling into a bottomless pit with no means of escape.

But when we fill our eyes with the RAY OF LIGHT we are filled with hope and a new perspective to our problems and we find new courage to overcome our obstacles.

I FILLED MY EYES WITH THE RAY THAT LIT MY ROOM. This is the key. This is the answer. To fill ourselves with hope.

This is my interpretation to your lovely poem. If you have any other way of looking at it I would like to know.

Have a lovely Sunday Sana:)

Thanks KK, Yes Thats how God pulls our spirits back :)

Hi Joseph!
I totally agree with you. In our life when everything seems to get dark, its very imp to count on our blessing, the ray of light that shows us the way and guides us towards light.
This ray is always there, but most of the time, we are unable to see it. Its very important for us to fill the dark corners with the ray of light, which is indeed the hope to go on, so that a better tomorrow embraces us happily :)
Darkness prevails.. but " where theres darkness let there be light".
Thanks for the wonderful comment!
