Its amazing how certain things we come across, just leave a deep impact on our mind, so much so that it forces us to think about life and how God created each one of us to spread the message of love , in our own small way, making us aware of his existence in everything that we come across.
Yesterday I read an amazing story that made me realise, how beautiful certain emotions can be , that just by their very existence , life turns into an everlasting treasure.
This story happens to be an eye witness account from New York City.
On a cold day in December. A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the boy and said, "My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?"
"I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes, was the boy's reply.
The lady took him by hand and went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her. She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and removing her gloves, knelt down and washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel. By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet , she purchased him a pair of shoes. She tied up the remaining pair of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said , "no doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?"
As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand , and looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words:
"Are you God's wife?"
I loved the story, as it made believe that the Almighty has blessed us with a heart which acts as
an instrument to spread his blessings in the world. But even while doing so, he left the choice on us....the choice to choose to be the one who spreads love and is compassionate.
God can bless anyone straightaway, but he decided to make our life valuable and all encompassing and hence he gave us a heart, which would give out a call from deep within. A call that would inturn inspire us to do something for others. There are many obstructions in the path of this call, these are the barriers that we give birth to, when we choose not to hear the call...
I hope and pray that whenever theres a call from within, our soul embraces it with open arms :)

a call from within..u speak so much my heart out...currently reading Celestine prophecy and it talks about insights, about looking within and who we are..what purpose we serve.
as i said, will be following u on this one...were u the eyewitcness to the account?
:) no Rush, just happened to find this story while surfing the net...must say one thing..musings seems great with the pair of slippers added to it;)
Very interesting and very true!! God comes to us in some form or the other.
Wow...excellent story....loved the boy's question....
Wowww..that was quite unique!! You rightly said that GOD can do anything straightaway but he rather chose us to do it by ourself to see how many of us respond to that "call from within". We will be in disbelief if we start to think but it is true that so many small things we can do which does not cost (in any form, be it money, effort or even sometime just the desire to do so) us much but brings so much joy to others.
lovely anecdote...
And like you truly said, we always have the power to choose... :)
Thanks Swetha, Mustafa, Mustaf and Issam, I am glad you liked it:)
Again you have wrote a very nice post. I can imagine how the lady felt, helping the boy out, I have done this several times for people, but I never want them to tell it was me. God gave us the ability to help others, some do and some choose not to Thank you for coming by.
A helping hand is none other than God himself.
Certainly, God is there in everybody's heart, but like Sun which reflects more in clear water, God is seen in persons, who, as you've beautifully said, listens to the call from within :-)
Great write up with an inspiring story! Well done mate :-)
May your pray come true...
Amen!
